Audition Information by Ensemble
Symphony Orchestra & Concert Orchestra (Strings Only)
If you would like to join the Concert Orchestra, an audition is not required. Simply register for MU 206.
For the University Symphony Orchestra, returning string players do not need to audition, but new string players must and should contact Dr. Waddell.
Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra (Winds, Percussion Only)
SPRING 2025 Audition Excerpts
Chamber Choir and Concert Choir
Fall 2025 Auditions will include:
- Basic vocalizing (assessing range, pitch, tone quality, etc.)
- Aural recall - usually 3-4 examples increasing in difficulty
- Sight-reading - singing your part on a piece we select using whichever method you're most comfortable with (solfege, neutral syllable, text, etc.)
- You do not need a prepared piece
