Colorado All-State Instructional Videos

The music faculty at Colorado State University invite you and your high school students to reference this set of All-State Instructional Videos, designed to help prepare high school woodwind, brass, string, and percussion students for their upcoming auditions.

Dedicated to its land-grant heritage, CSU is committed to promoting music and pedagogy of the highest quality, serving music education through the actions of faculty that benefit the students, teachers, and citizens of Colorado.

Dear Band and Orchestra Directors,

I was asked to supervise the recordings of the latest Colorado All-State Band and Orchestra audition repertoire by our performance faculty here at Colorado State University. I am thrilled to help bring you the fifth year of these videos! Seen by nearly 200,000 people, this series has helped not only Colorado students do their best on their All-State auditions, but has helped musicians all over the world.

For me, it was truly inspiring to witness the filming of my colleague’s videos. Over and over again, I heard them explain, analyze, and demonstrate difficult etudes and excerpts, while at the same time urging students to put their own artistic interpretation into their performances. I hope these videos help your students in their auditions and in becoming better and more well-rounded musicians.

In addition to providing an even more robust collection of videos next year, I invite your comments and suggestions on how we can better serve your students in the future!

Thank you,
Stanley Curtis
