Position Description: Assistant or Associate Professor of Music Therapy

Colorado State University: This is a full-time tenure-track, nine-month appointment, beginning August 16, 2014. Required Qualifications: PH.D. or ABD and CBMT Board Certification; Evidence of strong professional clinical experience; Evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level. Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of promising publication record in scholarship/research; strong professional connections and national and/or international visibility; emerging professional leadership; willingness to support and advance innovative initiatives in research and teaching; ability to recruit undergraduate/graduate music therapy majors; ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and multiculturalism through research, teaching and outreach with relevant programs, goals and activities; either have, or be willing to earn, certification in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT).

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate core courses in music therapy (including distance formats). Guide thesis projects and supervise graduate-teaching assistants in instructional and clinical settings. Maintain active involvement in interdisciplinary research and clinical activities with the Center for Biomedical Research in Music. Supervise undergraduate and graduate clinical practica. Recruit and interview potential music therapy students. Contribute to and support the land-grant mission of Colorado State University, with community outreach and service. Participate regularly in regional and national professional organizations.
