CSU Music Education faculty and students recently presented at the National Biennial Society for Music Teacher Education. The 2019 conference took place Sept. 12-14 in North Carolina and the theme was Cultivating Perspectives and Practices.

Research sessions

The CSU contingency presented two research sessions:

Music Teacher Identity Development Through the Lens of Interactive Near-Peer Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness was presented by Dr. Erik Johnson, associate professor of music education, and Hollie Bennett and Casey Padron, both Master of Music, Music Education Specialization candidates at Colorado State University.

“Is this Real Life?”: A Multiple Case Study of Pre-Service Music Educators Teaching in University-based Middle School Outreach Programs was presented by Dr. Seth Pendergast, assistant professor of music education and Dr. Johnson.
