Wind Symphony (MU 404)
The Wind Symphony is the premier concert band, performing the finest literature of yesterday, today, and tomorrow with flexible instrumentation that includes as few as eight or as many as seventy-five players. Membership, determined each semester by a blind audition, consists of the most accomplished graduate and undergraduate music students from the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. In addition to commissioning and premiering new works, the CSU Wind Symphony regularly features faculty artists and ensemble tours throughout the state and region, performing at regional and national conventions and conferences across the West.

Concert Band (MU 205)
The Concert Band is the largest of the concert ensembles with more than 120 musicians from all majors across campus. Open to students at both the undergraduate and graduate level, this ensemble performs two concerts in the spring semester, with high standards that are achievable by non-music majors. While the band is a non-auditioned group, we require that all students have prior experience in instrumental music to participate (e.g., performance in your high school band or previous private study). Internal chair placement auditions occur once the semester is underway and involve band members preparing various excerpts from the music the Concert Band will be performing.
The following instruments are available for rental for students who are performing on these instruments in the Concert Band: Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Bari Sax, French Horn, Euphonium, and Tuba. ($50 rental fee will apply).

Symphonic Band (MU 304)
With a goal of developing and refining large ensemble musicianship skills, the Symphonic Band is a 65-80 member concert ensemble comprised of students from the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance and throughout the CSU community. Membership is open to all majors selected through blind auditions held at the beginning of each academic semester. The Symphonic Band strives to deliver engaging performances that are artistic, expressive, and polished. The ensemble presents its audiences with a wide variety of repertoire including transcriptions, contemporary music, and works from the standard wind band repertoire. The Symphonic Band meets during the fall and spring semesters and performs four concerts each academic year.
