Fort Collins favorite revolutionizing the Colorado music scene from the CSU stage
The Contemporary Artist Music Series at Colorado State University sponsored by Bohemian Foundation continues this fall with Fort Collins-favorite indie rock quintet Fierce Bad Rabbit on Friday, September 5 at 9 p.m. in the Griffin Concert Hall at the University Center for the Arts, located at 1400 Remington St.
Tickets are FREE for CSU students (with ID), $1 for youth (under 18), and $12 for the public. Limited VIP seating (must be 21 or older), including on-stage cocktail seating with 2 FREE drinks, is available. Please note that the University Center for the Arts (UCA) ticket office hours have changed. Tickets are available at the ticket office in the UCA lobby 90 minutes prior to any UCA performance and through intermission or online at www.CSUArtsTickets.com. Fierce Bad Rabbit, comprised of Chris Anderson (lead vox/guitar), Alana Rolfe (viola/vox), Dayton Hicks (bass), Max Barcelow (drums/vox), and Nathaniel Marshall (keys/guitar), has been revolutionizing the Colorado music scene by branching out worldwide with their eclectic but accessible sound.
The band’s new album, Living Asleep, was recorded at the famed Sonic Ranch Studios in El Paso, Tex. and was just released at Bohemian Nights 2014. Currently the band members reside in Fort Collins and Boston, Mass., tour nationally, and just released brand new single, “Crystal Ball.”
Known for crafting a unique soundscape that spans pop-infused tunes to gritty rock roots, Fierce Bad Rabbit showcases strong and innovative songwriting and poignant lyrics that blend their seasoned musical talents. The band’s sound is reminiscent of Arcade Fire, Delta Spirit, The Shins, The National, and Wilco.
FBR had a fortuitous start in early 2009. Having just returned from West Africa for a trip with his wife in the Peace Corps, Anderson had stockpiled a series of songs he wanted to record and met Rolfe and Hicks from previous bands in Fort Collins. The band formally united just days before their first show together at Surfside 7 on March 15, 2009. With the line-up on board, FBR released their first EP, Black and White EP, on June 25, 2009 at Road 34 in Fort Collins.
This performance is part of the 2014-15 Contemporary Artist Music Series made possible by the generous support of Bohemian Foundation. The series aims to increase the amount of live contemporary music performances in Fort Collins and encourage audience and community support of local musicians.
Additionally, the series exposes students to different models of success in the music world and helps to bridge the gap between classical and contemporary music for audiences.
