On Saturday, Mar. 29, Colorado State University vocal students participated in the 52nd annual Colorado/Wyoming National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition held at the University Center for the Arts, on the CSU campus.
Founded in 1944, NATS is the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world with more than 7,000 members in the United States, Canada, and nearly 30 other countries.
According to the organization’s website, NATS exists to “promote the highest standards of the vocal art and of ethical principles in the teaching of singing; and to promote vocal education and research at all levels, both for the enrichment of the general public and for the professional advancement of the talented."
Each year, students of NATS member teachers participate in an adjudicated competition at the state level, a valuable experience for students who receive detailed feedback on their performance. Colorado State University students placed in twelve of the college level categories at the event.
