The Quartet performs concert and participates in the annual Pre-College Chamber Music Festival
The Virtuoso Series at Colorado State University continues this spring by welcoming back a favorite string quartet, Borromeo on Friday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Organ Recital Hall at the University Center for the Arts, located at 1400 Remington St.
Tickets are $7 for CSU students, $1 for youth (under 18), and $12 for the public.
Returning for its eighth residency year at Colorado State University, the Borromeo String Quartet – Nicholas Kitchen, violin; Kristopher Tong, violin; Mai Motobuchi, viola; and Yeesun Kim, cello – is one of the most sought after string quartets in the world. This concert features Bach’s St. Anne Fugue, Bartók’s String Quartet No. 4, and the Dvořák String Quartet No. 11 in C, op.61.
Join the quartet and the Department of Music, Theatre & Dance for a wine and cheese reception and a special announcement immediately following the performance in the Organ Recital Hall Lobby. The reception is free and open to all audience members.
Formed in 1989, the Borromeo String Quartet performs worldwide and has collaborated with many of the great composers and performers of our time. They have worked extensively with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Library of Congress and, in addition to being the quartet-in-residence at CSU, are the longtime ensemble-in-residence at the New England Conservatory of Music and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
The Borromeo are much celebrated for pioneering the use of computer technology to enable each musician to perform from full scores and composer manuscripts, a revealing and transformative experience which has never before been possible.

About the Pre-College Chamber Music Festival
Colorado State University is proud to host the 11th Annual Pre-College Chamber Music Festival, a two-day instructional intensive for the region’s best high school string quartets, culminating with a FREE concert on Saturday, April 20, 3 p.m. in the Organ Recital Hall at the University Center for the Arts. Prizes will be awarded. As a part of their residency, the Borromeo String Quartet will lead a masterclass for participating pre-college quartets on Saturday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the Organ Recital Hall. This event is FREE and open to public observation.
