The CSU Concert Choir and Chamber Choir will perform their first concert of the semester on Friday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Griffin Concert Hall at the University Center for the Arts, located at 1400 Remington St.
Tickets are $7 for CSU students, $1 for youth (under 18), and $12 for the public. Please note that the University Center for the Arts (UCA) ticket office hours have changed. Tickets are available at the ticket office in the UCA lobby 90 minutes prior to any UCA performance and through intermission. The Chamber Choir, conducted by James Kim, performs the Lux Aeterna by American composer, Morten Lauridsen. Joined by the CSU Concert Orchestra, the Concert Choir, conducted by Ryan Olsen, features Schubert’s Mass in G, which has been a standard of the choral/orchestral repertoire since its composition in 1815. It is a masterpiece that blends elements of Classical form in sacred choral music with some of the new harmonic innovations of the nineteenth century. At times it is graceful in its simplicity, at other times it is harmonically dense, rich, and intense.
About James Kim
Dr. James Kim is currently the Director of Choral Activities at Colorado State University. He directs the CSU Chamber Choir and also teaches undergraduate/graduate conducting, choral literature, and choral techniques.
About Ryan Olsen
Dr. Ryan Olsen is on faculty as Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education and director of the CSU Concert Choir. Dr. Olsen has been active in all levels of music education in Kansas, Missouri, Arizona, Texas, and Colorado.
