Note: The previous title of this concert was Joropo Reimaginado and has been changed to Alma Llanera
Featuring Ysmael Reyes, flute
The CSU Wind Symphony, directed by Dr. Rebecca Phillips, presents Alma Llanera, a concert featuring music of Venezuela, with faculty artist Dr. Ysmael Reyes performing the world premiere of Raimundo Pineda’s Concerto for Flute and Wind Symphony. The music of Venezuela is vibrant, with the Joropo representing the fundamental genre of this South American culture. This popular dance has a lively character and is featured throughout the program in pieces by Venezuelan composers such as Pedro Elías Gutiérrez, Navarro, and Moisés Moleiro. We look forward to celebrating the music of Venezuela with you!
