ON-DEMAND: University Symphony Orchestra Strings and Percussion Concert

Pulling the Heartstrings

The University Symphony Orchestra strings and percussion perform Gustav Mahler’s beloved Adagietto from Symphony No. 5, a work said to be a love poem to his beloved Alma. Passion, love, jealousy, and tragedy are all part of Georges Bizet’s supremely popular opera Carmen. Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin recreates the music of Bizet in a unique and clever setting for strings and percussion. The program is rounded out by a further exploration of Black composers, William Grant Still being one of the most famous.

While there are no in-person events this spring, students, family, friends, and arts patrons can access live-streamed and/or on-demand performances created by the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. On-Demand will be hosted on our Vimeo account and access will be provided through https://csuartstickets.universitytickets.com/. *Date, time, and program subject to change.
