Jim and Wendy Franzen generously sponsor the Jazz Barn Concert Series and annually support the Jazz Program at Colorado State University. These concerts are a unique gift to the Front Range community. The Jazz Barn Concert Series continues to be a series of special occasions when guests have the opportunity to enjoy fine music, stimulating conversation, and unique interactions with visiting jazz musicians.
Our guest this time is Gabriel Mervine on jazz trumpet. Gabriel has played everything from Mariachi to Mahler, but his focus is on jazz. He has played with Natalie Cole, John Scofield, Christian McBride, Terence Blanchard, and many others. Barn veterans Peter Sommer on saxophone, Steve Kovalcheck on guitar, Ken Walker on bass, and Jeff Jenkins on piano will also join in this time.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m., music will begin at 3 p.m.
Reservations: Seating is limited, and reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. A donation ticket price of $25/person made directly to the CSU Jazz Scholarship fund is requested for attendance. Donations can be made easily online or will be accepted at the door. Checks can be made out to the CSU Foundation (note Jazz Barn in the memo). The entire donated amount goes toward supporting the Jazz Program at CSU.
