Contemporary Works for Saxophone and Piano
Since 2010, Duality has promoted new works for saxophone and piano that challenge the listener and highlight the beauty of these instruments. They perform existing pieces and commission new works that live long beyond the ensemble.
Vanessa Sielert, saxophone, is Professor of Music at the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho. She is a performer, educator, and clinician who has collaborated with such ensembles as the Spokane Jazz Orchestra, Symphony Tacoma, the Bob Curnow Big Band, the Palouse Jazz Project, the Free Range Saxophone Quartet, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Catherine Anderson is a pianist based in the Pacific Northwest who served on the Lionel Hampton School of Music faculty for ten years. She is in demand as a collaborative artist throughout the region, performing regularly with faculty and students from the University of Idaho, Washington State University, and Central Washington University. She has collaborated with guest artists such as John Dicesare (principal tuba) and Ko-ichiro Yamamoto (principal trombone) of the Seattle Symphony.
