Duos for Classical Guitar and Double Bass

Colin Davin and Dr. Benjamin de Kock will perform two sets of duos: the Six Miniatures by Harriet Steinke, and Five Dances by Annette Kruisbrink. In addition to the duos, each will perform solos, including Mysterious Habitats by Dušan Bogdanović, the Prelude from Bach’s Cello Suite no. 6, Alma Llanera by Pedro Elías Gutiérrez, (arr. Alirio Día), and the Four Solo Pieces by David Anderson.

Colin has been invited to teach in a guest capacity at institutions including The Juilliard School, Oberlin Conservatory, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Arizona State University, and the Aspen Music Festival and School. He holds a Master of Music from The Juilliard School, where he studied with Sharon Isbin; and preparatory studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Jason Vieaux.

Dr. Benjamin de Kock received his bachelor and master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and his doctorate at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is principal bass of the San Juan Symphony in Durango Co, principal bass with the Colorado Bach Ensemble, assistant principal of the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra, assistant 3rd chair with the Greeley Symphony, a section member of the Boulder Philharmonic, and a regular sub the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Ballet, and Opera Colorado. In addition to his busy performing career, he is an affiliate professor of bass at Regis University in Denver, and a teacher at the Rocky Ridge School.
