Classical Convergence Concert: DUO 1804

DUO 1804 is a collaboration between composer, violinist and educator Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) and composer, percussionist and creator of Afro- electronica®, Val-Inc. Longtime peers in the Haitian American musical community of New York City, this is the much anticipated collaboration between two boundary-breaking composers exploring the possibilities of classical and electronic music, from a unique perspective drawn from their Haitian roots. 212 years after the proclamation of Haiti’s independence in 1804, the duo comes together to immerse the audience in a rich tapestry of sound that expresses notions of freedom, revolution, and spirituality — themes present in today’s global issues — to celebrate our collective human spirit and unity in the concert hall, which DBR calls “our last, precious bastion of democracy”.
