SUMMARY:Classical Convergence Concert: DUO 1804
DESCRIPTION:DUO 1804 is a collaboration between composer\, violinist and ed
ucator Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) and composer\, percussionist and creat
or of Afro- electronica®\, Val-Inc. Longtime peers in the Haitian America
n musical community of New York City\, this is the much anticipated collab
oration between two boundary-breaking composers exploring the possibilitie
s of classical and electronic music\, from a unique perspective drawn from
their Haitian roots. 212 years after the proclamation of Haiti’s indepe
ndence in 1804\, the duo comes together to immerse the audience in a rich
tapestry of sound that expresses notions of freedom\, revolution\, and spi
rituality — themes present in today’s global issues — to celebrate o
ur collective human spirit and unity in the concert hall\, which DBR calls
“our last\, precious bastion of democracy”.
