Announcing Nabile Galván as CSU assistant professor of Music Education

Nabile Galván promotional headshotThe School of Music, Theatre, and Dance welcomes Nabile Galván as assistant professor of Music Education, secondary string emphasis. Galván’s work is featured in the Journal of General Music Education and on the NAfME blog.

She completed her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at the Facultad de Música UANL in Mexico and her Master of Music in Viola Performance and Pedagogy at Texas State University.

Colorado State University is thrilled to have Ms. Galván join our faculty.

About Nabile Galván

Nabile Galván, originally from Mexico, is a doctoral candidate in music education at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, with an expected graduation in Spring 2025. Her profound interest in teaching has led her to collaborate with communities in Mexico, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Costa Rica, Kenya, and the United States.

Galván worked in public school orchestras in Texas from 2017 to 2021 and has been serving in Indiana since 2021. Her research focuses on empowering and amplifying historically marginalized communities in music education. Her qualitative dissertation explores the educational experiences of five first-generation Latiné music education students in U.S. undergraduate programs. She is passionate about bilingual music education, string pedagogy, and advocating for the Latiné music education community. Galván’s recent recognitions include the 2024 Presser Foundation Graduate Music Award and the 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Building Bridges Award.
