This solo recital given by Robert Hill is the first to feature CSU’s new harpsichord. Built this summer by Bruce Kennedy, whose workshop in Tuscany produces world-famous harpsichords, the instrument is a German double-manual (after M. Mietke, 1702-1704), capable of playing a range of keyboard music, but especially that of J.S. Bach. Dr. Hill is the Eugene D. Eaton, Jr. Chair in Baroque Music Performance, and professor of harpsichord at the University of Colorado. Prior to CU, he served for more than 20 years as professor for historical keyboard instruments and performance practice at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in Germany.
The program features Johann Sebastian Bach’s Clavier-Übung IV, The “Goldberg” Variations BWV 988
If you are not excited enough about our new harpsichord, watch this beautiful video from the Netherlands Bach Society on the same model harpsichord Bruce Kennedy is making for CSU, just with different case painting.
Concert programs are available in a virtual format only and may be viewed via a QR code at the performance when available.
