The CSU Chamber Choir will tour several cities in Texas in April 2013. Lead by Director of Choral Activities, Dr. James Kim, the choir will lead master classes in local high schools, participate in clinics with other universities and colleges, and feature a number of special performances.

Departing for Houston on April 18, the Chamber Choir heads to San Jacinto College and the University of Houston for performances at different venues, including the Moores School Opera House. On April 21, the ensemble moves to Trinity University in San Antonio for a joint performance at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and work with local high schools choirs. The choir will conclude their tour with additional workshops at local high schools in Dallas, capped off by a special concert at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church.

The tour will also include CSU faculty members Dr. James Kim and Dr. John Seesholtz, CSU Professor of Voice, working with students in master class and workshop settings. Dr. Seesholtz, a San Antonio native and new to the CSU faculty, is looking forward to returning to his hometown with the ensemble.

Dr. Seesholtz will perform as a soloist with the choir for Gabriel Kahane’s “Neurotic and Lonely” from the Craigslistlieder.

During the ensemble’s progress, the choir will reunite with CSU alumni at each stop along the tour.

“We are thrilled to bring CSU to our Texas area alumni,” said Colleen Meyer, executive director of the CSU Alumni Association. “This is a wonderful opportunity for alumni to connect with one another and more important, to support our very talented CSU Chamber Choir.”

"As we travel throughout the state of Texas this spring, the purpose of the tour is really three-fold. One priority is to show the quality of the Department of Music, Theatre & Dance and our nationally-recognized vocal/choral program to a wider audience in the country, including our CSU alumni in Texas; to collaborate with other wonderful university and college choirs in the state; and to meet and work with talented high school students who may choose to study voice at Colorado State University.

We are also really looking forward to reconnecting with our alumni in Texas – both from the music program, and all alumni from CSU. We hope this will help reinforce the sense of pride that goes along with being a CSU Ram – no matter where you are."
