The CSU Department of Music is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Emeritus Professor Janet Morrow King. Her husband, David King, called to share her obituary with us today.
Janet Morrow King died of a terminal disease on June 17, 2024. She left behind a life of singing for others, educating young singers, and a desire to nourish the Heart.
During her decade of service to Trinity Episcopal Church in Haverhill, Massachusetts, she re-created and directed an after-school arts program for under-served children, as well as providing music liturgics and directing the choir as Director of Music. This followed a twenty-four-year career as Associate Professor of Voice at Colorado State University (1985-2009). Before arriving in Fort Collins with her newly earned Doctor of Musical Arts, guided by Clifton Ware at The University of Minnesota, she sang full-time for four years in state and city opera houses in Regensburg and Linz, Germany. David, her spouse of thirty-eight years, and daughter Maura join those who knew her in missing her gentle touch and integrity.
