Fort Collins, Colo –The Griffin Concert Hall, at Colorado State University’s University Center for the Arts, is pictured on the cover of the 2011 edition of School Band and Orchestra's Music Students' College Search and Career Guide. This special edition features profiles of music schools across the nation, as well as tips for incoming music freshmen.
The photo was taken during East-West Week last spring when students from East China Normal University visited the Colorado State University campus in April, attending Master Classes, and performing collaborative recitals with CSU students. The stunning image captures the sold-out performance by the CSU Combined Choirs, the University Symphony Orchestra, and ECNU students of Beethoven's beloved Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 ‘Choral’.
School Band and Orchestra (SBO) Magazine sends 80,000 copies of the annual guide to high school music directors for distribution to students considering studying music at the college level; an additional 8,000 guides are used by high school guidance counselors for reference throughout the year.
“The Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance is thrilled about the national exposure provided by being on the cover of the leading publication for music educators and directors,” said Jennifer Clary, marketing director for the School of the Arts.
The publication issued a request for performance pictures, and the Griffin Concert Hall image was selected for the cover, with additional inset images from Five Towns College, and Juilliard.
Iris Fox, SBO Sales and Marketing representative said that the Griffin Hall image gave the magazine a “classy cover!”
