CSU Percussion Ensemble receives national recognition at PASIC

Congratulations to Dr. Eric Hollenbeck and the students in Colorado State University’s percussion studio for their outstanding performance at the 2025 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) on November 12-15, 2025, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

CSU’s Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Hollenbeck, was selected through an audition process from colleges and universities across the nation to perform live in Indianapolis, as part of the International Chamber Competition. CSU placed second out of 30 semi-finalists.

“The playing level was very high, and the judges were very complimentary of our performance,” said Dr. Hollenbeck, head of percussion at CSU. I watched about a dozen groups, and the playing in all of the groups that I saw was terrific! I am extremely proud of our showing and the work these students put forth!”

In addition to the exceptional experience these students obtained through this process, CSU and Dr. Hollenbeck’s studio became the “talk of the town” in the percussion world, according to Rebecca Phillips, CSU Director of Bands.

“I believe their efforts will pay dividends in recruiting high-level talent from across the nation over the next several years,” said Dr. Phillips. “This is absolutely due to the hard work, leadership, and dedication of Dr. Hollenbeck.

Congratulations to all!
