CSU Group Closes the Spring Semester with a Party to Remember

Now in its second season, CSU’s Contemporary Artist Music Series sponsored by Bohemian Foundation presents the ska/punk band Party Boys of the Century on Wednesday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Griffin Concert Hall at the University Center for the Arts, located at 1400 Remington St.

From Irish inspired punk to down-tempo reggae, and from down and dirty funk right back up to straight ahead ska punk, every show has something each audience member can jam to.

Party Boys of the Century is slowly becoming a driving force behind northern Colorado ska/punk. Evolving from humble beginnings as a high school band, the powerhouse eight-member group is now one of the premier ska bands in northern Colorado. With so many musicians to draw inspiration from, they offer a diverse range of musical styles.

It was in early 2011 that founding members Andrew Raymond, lead vocals/trumpet, talked Ian Schmid, trumpet, into coming over for practice one day. Coincidentally, that was also bass player Drew Miller's first day, as well. After that, Elliot Schwebach, saxophone, Nathan Danztler, Tyler Diel, drums/percussion;  trombone; Matt Carroll, guitar/vocals; and Jerod Parker, baritone saxophone, all joined the group in different ways, and the group has been rocking together ever since.

“We are super stoked to play at CSU,” said bassist Drew Miller. “It has played a huge role in our lives and development as a band – we’re so excited to have the opportunity to bring ska music to such a great community.”

The University Center for the Arts at Colorado State University provides an enriched venue in which the study and practice of Art, Dance, Music and Theatre are nurtured and sustained by building the skills and knowledge needed by future generations of arts professionals to become contributors to the essential vitality of our culture and society. During the 2013-2014 season, the UCA celebrates its fifth anniversary and features several celebratory events that highlight connecting our campus and community with impactful arts.
