Rebecca Phillips pictured conducting the Wind SymphonyThe CSU Wind Symphony closes the season by highlighting collaborations of CSU student artists. Under the direction of Dr. Rebecca Phillips, Graduate Wind Conductor Benjamin Pouncey will conduct the CSU premiere of Sound and Smoke by Viet Cuong. In addition, the ensemble will perform the world premiere of two works; Graduate Student Composer Gideon Matchey’s newest piece, The Greatest Change, under the baton of Graduate Wind Conductor Nicholas Hinman and Undergraduate Student Composer Derek Summers’ exciting work, Downtown Laundromat. The CSU Graduate Student Brass Trio (John Pirelli – trumpet, Christian Heck – tenor trombone, and Shea Mitchell – bass trombone) will perform Floyd Werle’s Concertino for Three Brass.
