The outstanding music faculty artists present a range of repertoire, including Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor, Op. 60, scored for piano (Bryan Wallick), violin (Ron Francois), viola (Margaret Miller), and cello (Meredith Blecha-Wells). The piece premiered in 1875 and is often called the Werther Quartet after Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther.
Other pieces on the program include:
- Ned Rorem’s “Ariel” for soprano (Tiffany Blake), clarinet (Copper Ferreira) and piano (Tim Burns)
- Paul Lansky’s “Textures” for two pianos (Bryan Wallick and Time Burns) and two percussionists (Eric Hollenbeck and Shilo Stroman)
- Jim David’s new composition for trumpet (Stan Curtis), trombone (Drew Leslie), piano (Tim Burns), and percussion (Eric Hollenbeck)
