Rhapsodies and Legends: The Legacy of Elise Hall
Faculty artists Peter Sommer, saxophone, and Juhyun Lee, piano, present a program featuring music written for saxophonist Elise Hall, including works by the great Claude Debussy and Florent Schmitt. Hall, a prominent Boston socialite and saxophonist at the turn of the 20th century, commissioned significant composers to write new music for Adolphe Sax’s young instrument, resulting in some of the most enduring and endearing works for concert saxophone.
