Mangani Mania!
A celebration of the clarinet compositions of living composers, this year’s event features the many works of Italian guest artist, Michele Mangani who will be a major part of the celebration. Highlights of the festival include Mangani’s talk on his compositional process and the pieces being performed on the festival concerts.
Middle/high school students begin the morning with a mini-clarinet camp, which includes lessons and topic classes provided by current CSU clarinet students. Following the lunch hour, all regional clarinetists are invited to join in and participate in the festival clarinet choir, conducted by Michele Mangani himself. Popular music and clarinet vendors will be present and open all afternoon for clarinetists to try out and purchase various equipment and supplies.
The first concert featuring Mangani’s clarinet works begins at 4 p.m., with performances from the talented clarinet students and faculty of Colorado State University, as well as a performance by the aforementioned festival clarinet choir. Following the dinner break, the festival concludes with an evening recital at 7:30 p.m. in the beautiful Organ Recital Hall. In total, over 20 of Mangani’s works comprising of solo, chamber, concerto, and clarinet choir will be performed at the ManganiMania festival.
