The Orchestra, conducted by Leslie Stewart, performs some of London’s most celebrated composers, including Henry Purcell, considered the greatest native English composer for almost 200 years; the popular Edward Elgar; and George Frederic Handel, who was born in Germany but spent most of his life in London. The program includes music from Purcell’s Fairy Queen Suite; Handel’s First Organ Concerto, featuring organ student Angela Fitzsimmons; and Elgar’s Serenade for Strings.
Between musical selections, five Theater Majors will read selections from Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Cierra Amavisca (“Fairy”), Charlotte Clanton (“Puck”), Zachary Rickert (“Oberon”), Heather Salyer (“Titania”) and Jack Krause (“Bottom”).
