The University Chorus, led by Carly Neumann, joins forces with the Concert Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Rachel Waddell, for an evening of sonic soul‑searching and discovery. The program explores how music becomes prayer in spaces both sacred and surprising. From the radiant light of Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare, to the hushed reverence of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus (conducted by orchestra graduate teaching assistant, Sam Cooper) to the pulsing metropolis of Ola Gjeilo’s The City from Sunrise Mass, each work reveals a different kind of sanctuary. Together, these pieces remind us that prayer is not confined to walls of stone; it rises wherever people gather to seek meaning, from cathedrals to city streets.
