Together called “pliant and luminous” and praised for their “fluid, robust singing,” (Parterre Box) Megan Pachecano and Sarah Nelson Craft are no strangers to sharing the stage. Of their performance in Loft Opera’s recent production of Cosi fan tutte, The New York Times wrote, “Megan Pachecano sang Fiordiligi with a lucid soprano, blending easily with the soft-grained mezzo of Sarah Nelson Craft (Dorabella).” Stage sisterhood came easily to Pachecano and Craft, who share a background of vocal study in the repertoire and performance practice of the bel canto era, honed over several years working with the esteemed coaches and conductors of the Caramoor International Music Festival’s Bel Canto program.
Craft has been a soloist with choirs and orchestras around the world, in venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. An active recitalist, she has been presented in solo recitals by Caramoor, Music Academy of the West, and Carnegie Hall, who will be featuring her in recital once again in April 2018. Later this season, she’ll be heard in selections from Canteloube’s Chants d’Auvergne with the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra and in several concerts with the Amor Artis choir.
Pachecano enjoys a variety of performance engagements in opera, oratorio, orchestral works, and musical theatre. Recent production highlights were Odyssey Opera’s Sir John in Love by Vaughan Williams, Dalila in Handel’s Samson with the Ad Astra Music Festival, Cinderella in Into the Woods with St. Petersburg Opera, and a Hollywood pops concert with the Astoria Symphony Orchestra. Upcoming performances include Ariadne auf Naxos with Austin Opera and a Bernstein concert with the Helena Symphony.
