There and Back Again…a Sax-o-Hobbit’s Journey from the Rockies to New York and Back
This will be a very special lecture-recital as Dr. Dan Goble, director of the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at CSU, shares his story in music that started here on the Front Range, took him to New York, and has brought him full circle back to join us here at CSU. This event is organized and hosted by the students of the Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity’s CSU chapter.
The student body will learn much from Dr. Goble’s musical journey as a saxophonist and arts administrator, including a prestigious tenure as saxophonist with the New York Philharmonic.
This event aligns very well with the Delta Omicron’s aims to promote and inspire excellence in music and scholarship, and bring together the music community at CSU.
Delta Omicron is an international, professional coed music fraternity whose mission is to support and promote excellence in music and musicianship.
Founded in 1909 at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, the organization now includes chapters through the US and abroad; CSU’s Upsilon chapter is one of the oldest. The chapter has been active for nearly forty years. After a hiatus in the early 2000s, the chapter returned at CSU several years ago and is constantly expanding outreach and community engagement efforts and encouraging high standards of musical excellence among its members. Goals of the chapter include fostering fellowship through music, promoting the composition of new music, stimulating music appreciation in the community, and exploring cultural understanding and awareness. More information about Delta Omicron at CSU can be found on their website.
