The Charles and Reta Ralph Opera Program is named in honor of Charles and Reta Ralph in recognition of their generous and continuing support of opera at Colorado State University. The Ralph’s benevolence provides programmatic support and professional development opportunities, as well as a broad scholarship support system for students studying vocal performance. Read more.

The Ralph Opera Program performs two fully staged productions with orchestra each year, as well as multiple opera scenes programs, spanning the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern eras.

Past presentations include: Gioachino Rossini's La Cenerentola; W.A. Mozart's Idomeneo; Jules Massenet's Cendrillon; Franz Lehár's The Merry Widow; Kurt Weill’s Street Scene; Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia; Giuseppe Verdi's Falstaff; and Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.


  • Ample performing opportunities for undergraduate students.
  • Graduate students fill leadership roles and may participate in the Opera Fort Collins Apprentice Artist program.
  • Auditions for the Ralph Opera Center are held in Oct. and March and are open to all CSU students.
