Biography
DeAunn Davis, D.M.A., is a Denver-based French hornist who performs actively along Colorado’s Front Range. 2022-2023 marks DeAunn’s tenth season as assistant principal/utility horn with the Boulder Philharmonic in Boulder, Colorado. She has performed with the Fort Collins Symphony, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Central City Opera, Opera Colorado, Canto Deo, Inside the Orchestra, and the Denver Municipal Band. DeAunn is also an enthusiastic chamber musician, performing regularly in duos, trios, quartets, and quintets of all kinds! DeAunn is thrilled to join Dr. John McGuire and the CSU Horn Studio again after guest-teaching in Fall 2020.
Prior to living in Denver, DeAunn taught French horn at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has been an artist in residence at Yale University, the New England Conservatory, and Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. DeAunn has performed with the Honolulu Symphony in Honolulu, Hawaii and the Utah Symphony Orchestra in Salt Lake City, Utah, and traveled to Haiti in 2012 as a faculty member/featured soloist with the Ecole de Musique Sainte Trinité Woodwind Festival. DeAunn was a featured chamber musician for the 2018 Cactus Pear Music Festival in San Antonio, Texas, and performed on Marin Alsop’s final concert for the 2016 Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music in Santa Cruz, California.
DeAunn was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago while earning her Bachelor of Music at Northwestern University. She earned her Master of Music from DePaul University in Chicago, and her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. DeAunn performed extensively in the Chicago-land area for over a decade, and was a founding member of the critically-acclaimed experimental chamber group Fifth House Ensemble.
