Regional Music Scholars Conference hosted by CSU’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance

keynoteRegional meetings of the American Musicological Society, the Society for Ethnomusicology, and the Society for Music Theory will be held concurrently on March 27-28, 2015 at Colorado State University’s University Center for the Arts. This is the first time in organizational history that any of these professional music societies have participated in a conference hosted by CSU. Scholars from across the United States will present papers reflecting current research in music history, music theory, and cultural music topics.

Headlining the event is keynote speaker Dr. Philip Bohlman. Dr. Bohlman is currently the Mary Werkman Distinguished Service Professor of Music and the Humanities at the University of Chicago where he serves as Artistic Director of the New Budapest Orpheum Society. His lecture, “Music Nationalist Moment,” is scheduled for 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 in CSU’s Behavioral Sciences Building, Room A101. The university community and general public are cordially invited to attend.

Sponsored by CSU’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, the spring scholars conference is not limited to those from the region itself, which includes Ariz., Colo., Idaho, Mont., N. Mex., Utah, and Wyo., and the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, and will attract interested independent scholars, university faculty members, and students from throughout the U.S. Click here for more information.
