 ing American trios by Amy Beach\, Jennifer Higdon\, Paul Schoenfield\, and
  concluding with Felix Mendelssohn’s Trio in D minor Op. 49. The Trio wa
 s originally formed in 1988 and is named for Thiem’s great grandfather F
 ranz von Mendelssohn\, a nephew of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and an impo
 rtant supporter of artists and musicians in early 20th century Berlin.
