Wings ‘n Things
With Jooyeon Chang, Piano

The flute has always seemed the obvious choice to represent birds and other flighty creatures in music. After years of bemoaning this characterization, it’s time to embrace our ability to represent winged creatures! CSU faculty artists Megan Lanz, flute, and Jooyeon Chang, piano, perform music from a range of time periods, and all pieces represent something winged or tell a story about a creature of flight. Experience the solo piccolo musically depicting insects, the alto flute representing birds’ dreams, and the flute telling the dramatic story of a phoenix.
