DESCRIPTION:Roots \nWith Jooyeon Chang\, Piano\n\nFaculty artist Dr. Cayla 
 Bellamy\, bassoon\, along with Dr. Jooyeon Chang\, piano\, presents a reci
 tal of the "roots" of instruments’ repertoire. The program opens with th
 e earliest bassoon sonata\, written in 1608\, and includes works exploring
  the compositional roots of the bassoon extended technique\, stylistic roo
 ts of jazz in classical woodwind repertoire\, cultural roots of indigenous
  composers of contemporary repertoire\, and the programmatic "roots" of th
 e one of the newest bassoon concerti\, Red Maple. The composers on this mu
 ltifaceted program include Giovanni Bertoli\, Sonia Ko\, Andre Previn\, Ja
 cqueline Wilson\, and Joan Tower.\n\nConcert programs are available in a v
 irtual format only and may be viewed via a QR code at the performance when
  available.
