 id Davis\, Graduate Student Conductor\n\nThe Symphonic Band\, conducted by
  Dr. Jayme Taylor\, presents a delightful mixture of repertoire spanning t
 he breadth of modern concert band history! From the earliest days of conce
 rt bands when transcriptions of orchestral literature were a major part of
  the repertoire comes Gioachino Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and a wo
 rk by Gustav Holst\, one of the world’s most well-known early composers 
 for band. The program also features two major mid-century works from the 
 “golden age” of symphonic bands and two very modern works\, including 
 a 2023 composition by CSU’s own Kevin Poelking that won a major internat
 ional award from the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles fo
 r best new composition.
