DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, Oct. 13\, 7 p.m.\, Room 156\nThis presentation and di
 scussion covers the new NAfME/Guitar Center ALL IN\, a new initiative abou
 t the results of a seven year long study on the characteristics of what ma
 kes a great teacher. The areas covered will include: professional relation
 ship building\, knowing your colleagues\, fundraising\, and advocacy.\n\nW
 ednesday\, Oct. 14\, 8-9 a.m.\, Runyan: “Knowing Your Learners”\nCurre
 ntly working as an education clinician for Music Solutions Group and Conn-
 Selmer Corporation\, Branson is involved in a number of national music edu
 cation projects including All IN with NAfME and the Guitar Center\; he is 
 widely sought after to present at university’s across the United States.
 \n\nAbout the Guest\nDavid Branson is highly involved in developing an Art
  and Wellness program in Casper Wyo.\, in conjunction with the Wyoming Sym
 phony\, Casper Medical Center\, and Casper College. He is an active perfor
 mer in the Casper area. Branson recently retired as the administrator for 
 fine arts/music for the Washoe County School District in Reno\, Nev.\, whe
 re her coordinated all music and arts activities for the school district\,
  as well as coordinated the professional development training for the fine
  arts program staff. Prior to his current assignment\, Branson taught at C
 layton Middle School\, Edward C. Reed High School\, and other elementary s
 chools in the WCSD. Before moving to Reno\, he served as music coordinator
  for the Livermore Unified School District in Calif.\, as well as teaching
  band\, Jazz\, orchestra and choir. He was also an instructor at Chabot Co
 llege in Hayward\, Calif. Branson is a past Western Division president for
  MENC\; he has served as a state president in Nev.\, with various position
 s on section and state boards for the past 30 years. He is an active adjud
 icator for music festivals and Bands of America\, and often conducts honor
  bands and music camps. In addition to his duties with the Washoe County S
 chool District\, he served on the faculty at the Truckee Meadows Community
  College. During his tenure in WCSD\, he developed over 25 strategic partn
 erships with business and community groups to improve music education and 
 access for all students. He has been called upon to speak to the Nevada Le
 gislature committees on the benefits of arts education on student achievem
 ent. Branson was awarded the Administrator of the Year\, and the Service t
 o Music Education awards by the Nevada Music Education Association.
