SUMMARY:Guest Artist Concert: Ira Gold\, Double Bass
DESCRIPTION:Join double bassist Ira Gold from the National Symphony Orchest
 ra and Peabody Conservatory for an evening of solo music by J.S. Bach\, Se
 rge Koussevitzky\, and Sofia Gubaidulina. Ira Gold joined the National Sym
 phony Orchestra in 2005 after performing with major American ensembles\, i
 ncluding serving as section bass with the Minnesota Orchestra and guest pr
 incipal bass with the San Francisco and Detroit symphonies. He was recentl
 y named principal bass of the Bellingham Festival of Music. \n \nA dedicat
 ed educator\, Mr. Gold has taught at the Peabody Conservatory since 2009 a
 nd is now an associate professor of double bass\, offering private instruc
 tion\, orchestral repertoire classes\, chamber coaching\, and masterclasse
 s. He has presented recitals and masterclasses across the United States an
 d internationally\, with appearances at institutions such as the Moscow St
 ate Conservatory\, The Juilliard School\, USC\, Boston University\, the Cl
 eveland Institute of Music\, and the Manhattan School of Music. His summer
  teaching includes the Boston University Tanglewood Institute\, Bass Works
 \, DCBass\, and Bass Club London. He previously served on the faculty of C
 atholic University of America and performed the Vanhal Concerto at Carnegi
 e Hall with the CUA Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Gold has been featured on Jaso
 n Heath’s Contrabass Conversations podcast\, wrote the foreword to Winni
 ng the Audition\, and contributed articles to the ISB’s Bass World. He w
 as also featured on the Mind Over Finger podcast. \n\nAn active chamber mu
 sician\, he has performed with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra\, East Co
 ast Chamber Orchestra\, Peabody faculty\, and others\, and has appeared at
  festivals including Grand Teton\, Domaine Forget\, Round Top\, Aspen\, an
 d Tanglewood. \n\nA Houston native\, he holds degrees from Boston Universi
 ty and Rice University. He lives in Silver Spring\, Maryland\, with his wi
 fe Heidi\, their daughters\, and their dog Hamish. \n
