SUMMARY:Dare to Dabble with Dalcroze Eurhythmics
DESCRIPTION:Earn professional development credits toward renewal of teacher
  certification.\n\nSwiss music educator\, Emile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865-1950
 )\, believed in movement as our “sixth sense.” This workshop will intr
 oduce you to Dalcroze Eurhythmics and through movement you will experience
  sound in an entirely new way. Come and learn kinesthetic games and activi
 ties that teach your students musical concepts such as beat\, meter\, rhyt
 hm\, melodic contour\, dynamics\, articulation and phrasing. Dalcroze tech
 niques will engage your students through perceptive listening\, concentrat
 ion\, and musical problem-solving while enabling them to become more music
 ally expressive. Workshop is designed for K-12 music teachers\, applied mu
 sic instructors\, as well as anyone who teaches or performs music.\n\n“T
 he aim of eurhythmics is to enable pupils\, at the end of their course\, t
 o say not “I know\,” but “I have experienced.” –Emile Jaques-Dal
 croze\n\nThe workshop is presented Dr. Bonnie Jacobi\, assistant professor
  of music education\, and Mr. Fritz Anders\, Dalcroze instructor from Denv
 er.\nMr. Fritz Anders teaches Eurhythmics for the JEFFCO School District a
 nd is the organist &amp\; choir director for St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Chu
 rch in Denver. He recently moved from Santa Fe\, NM\, where he taught musi
 c and dance – ballet &amp\; modern/Horton technique at Santa Fe High Sch
 ool. Mr. Anders received his graduate certification in Dalcroze Eurhythmic
 s from the Juilliard School and has taught Eurhythmics throughout the west
 .\n\nDr. Bonnie Jacobi is a specialist in musical gesture and has presente
 d sessions on gesture and Dalcroze in Arkansas\, Colorado\, Florida\, Kent
 ucky\, Louisiana\, and Texas. She has studied ballet for thirty-five years
  and performed as a member of the Austin Contemporary Ballet. Dr. Jacobi h
 olds training from the Abramson-Dalcroze Institute at Juilliard and the Ma
 rta Sanchez International Dalcroze Institute at Carnegie-Mellon University
 . Presently\, she teaches in the Music Education Area at Colorado State U
