SUMMARY:Dare to Dabble with Dalcroze Eurhythmics
DESCRIPTION:Swiss music educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze believed in movement
  as our “sixth sense.” This workshop introduces participants to Dalcro
 ze Eurhythmics\, where\, through movement\, sound is experienced in an ent
 irely new way. Learn kinesthetic games and activities that teach your stud
 ents musical concepts such as beat\, meter\, rhythm\, melodic contour\, dy
 namics\, articulation\, and phrasing. Dalcroze techniques engage young stu
 dents through perceptive listening\, concentration\, and musical problem-s
 olving while enabling them to become more musically expressive. The worksh
 op is designed for K-12 music teachers\, applied music instructors\, anyon
 e who teaches or performs music\, and is a sample of content for MU 524 at

  the JEFFCO School District and is organist and choir director for St. Mic
 hael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Denver. He previously taught music
  and dance – ballet &amp\; modern/Horton technique at Santa Fe High Scho
 ol in New Mexico. Mr. Anders received his graduate certification in Dalcro
 ze Eurhythmics from the Juilliard School and has taught Eurhythmics throug
 hout the west..\n\nDr. Bonnie Jacobi is a specialist in musical gesture. H
 aving studied ballet for thirty-five years\, she performed as a member of 
 the Austin Contemporary Ballet. Dr. Jacobi holds a Dalcroze Certificate th
 rough the American Eurhythmics Society and has trained at the Abramson-Dal
 croze Institute at Juilliard\, the Marta Sanchez International Dalcroze In
 stitute at Carnegie-Mellon University\, and the Dalcroze School of the Roc
 kies. She is associate professor of Music Education at CSU.
