SUMMARY:Community Jam with the New Music Ensemble / FREE
DESCRIPTION:Join the New Music Ensemble\, conducted by Dr. Cayla Bellamy\, 
 for a "community jam" of Terry Riley's In C. The session is open to anyone
  from the campus and community.\n\nParticipants should bring their own ins
 trument\; music will be available on-site. The ensemble will give a brief 
 demonstration and instructional introduction at 5:15 p.m.\, and the jam wi
 ll start at 5:30 p.m.\n\n\nRiley's piece is minimalist\, open-process work
  that allows each performer to play or sing short motivic gestures as many
  times as they like before moving on—it's different every time!\n\nThe c
 ommunity jam will be held outside in the Annual Trial Gardens. In case of 
 inclement weather\, it will move inside the University Center for the Arts
 /Griffin Concert Hall. This event is free and open to the public.\n\n"The 
 New Music Ensemble has been exploring this piece in class and are excited 
 to have a public event\," said Bellamy.
