Percussion Ensemble Festival
The fifth annual Percussion Ensemble Festival features several Colo. high school ensembles, the esteemed Pendulum Percussion Duo featuring Susan Powell and Joe Krygier, and the CSU Percussion Ensemble.
During the day, High School ensembles receive feedback from guest clinicians, master classes are presented by guest artists, and clinics on primary percussion instruments are included. A concluding concert at 5 p.m. in the Instrumental Rehearsal Hall features the CSU Percussion Ensemble.

The Pendulum Percussion Duo has been performing together since 1992. Their repertoire consists of a wide variety of styles and genres including world, ragtime, contemporary and electronic selections, as well as pieces the duo has composed for themselves. Pendulum has presented numerous concerts at festivals, chamber music series and on university campuses in the U.S. and Europe, combining their versatility as both performers and clinicians. Over the past few years, they have also appeared at Percussive Arts Society ‘Days of Percussion’ in Ohio, Kansas, South Carolina, Alabama and Florida, as well as several state music conventions.
Recent appearances include the Monterrey (Mexico) International Percussion Festival, CrossDrumming Festival in Warsaw, Poland, International Drum and Percussion Festival in Ukmerge, Lithuania, Vilnius Conservatory of Music, Lithuania, Stockholm and Piteå, Sweden, Bands of America Summer Symposium, University of Kentucky, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Florida State University, Belmont University and the University of Central Florida. Past appearances include the Ameropa Chamber Music Festival in Prague, Czech Republic, Berklee School of Music ‘Week of Percussion’, Belmont University, Eastman School of Music, Zildjian “Factory Concert” in Norwall, Massachusetts, Leigh Howard Stevens Summer Marimba Seminar and the Northwestern Summer Symposium.
Highlights of their recent concert schedule included appearances at the 5th International Percussion Festival in Monterrey, Mexico, the Maryland Day of Percussion, and a tour of the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas. During the 2012-13 season, the duo will premiere "Crystal Cabinet" by Bill Cahn, a commissioned work written for Pendulum.
The duo has future commissioning projects in progress by other members of the percussion group Nexus, and by Swedish vibraphone virtuoso Anders Åstrand.
