All-West Honors High School Trombone Choir

Overview

Announcing a new event for high school aged trombonists, the All-West Honors High School Trombone Choir. The two-day events features solo recitals by Jeremy Wilson of Vanderbilt University, and CSU Trombone Professor Chris Van Hof, as well as master classes and exhibits. This free event is open to all western state trombone players by audition.

Open to high school players currently in grades 9-12 and living in Ariz., Calif., Colo., Hawaii, Idaho, Kan., Mont., N.D., Neb., Nev., N.M., Okla., Ore., S.D., Texas, Utah, Wyo., and Wa.

FREE: no registration charge, however an audition is required.

Application Procedure

To Apply:

Complete the application form.
Make your audition recording using either audio or audio + video.
Tenor Trombonists, please record the following:
- Two contrasting Blazevich or Rochut/Bordogni etudes OR two movements from a concerto or sonata.
- A 3-octave C-major scale in quarter notes at quarter = 120
Bass Trombonists, please record the following:
- Contrasting Tyrell or Rochut/Bordogni etudes OR two movements from a concerto or sonata.
- A 3-octave A-flat major scale in quarter notes at quarter = 120
Email your recording directly as an mp3 to Dr. Van Hof, OR email a link to your recording loaded up to YouTube, Vimeo, Soundcloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, or another streaming service.
Complete ALL OF THIS by Feb. 1, 2016.

After you apply:

You will receive a confirmation email of your application within 24 hours from either Dr. Van Hof or from CSU graduate student Amanda Tatara.
By Feb. 7, you will receive confirmation of your acceptance so you can begin travel plans to get to Fort Collins.
If you applied on the form to play in the master class, you will also be notified in the Feb. 7 email.
If you are accepted, you must confirm your attendance by Feb. 15, 2016
By March 1, 2016, you will receive an email with PDFs of the music, as well as part assignments. This email will also outline the daily schedule for April 7 and 8.
If you are accepted and plan to attend, you should arrive in Fort Collins no later than 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 7 as events will begin promptly at 8 a.m.
